Having trouble losing weight?
Here’s why…

If you’ve had trouble losing unwanted pounds over the years, there are a few common reasons why that might be...

The first and biggest reason you might not be losing weight is because your food intake is higher than number of calories burned. Studies suggest that if you were to consume 500 calories less than your normal daily intake and your activity stayed the same, that you would lose 1lb per week. In the same manner, if you add 45 minutes of exercise to your daily routine, you would burn 500 calories more; a 1 lb loss would occur. The bottom line is that you have to make a decision to eat less or move more.

The second most common reason is that you’re eating the wrong foods or making poor food choices. The best foods to help you burn fat are healthy proteins, fats, and fibers; you should avoid refined carbohydrates like white bread, rice, sugar, and artificial sweeteners.

Lastly, an imbalance in your hormonal system could cause you to not achieve your weight loss goals. Hormones are naturally reduced over time and as we age, testosterone, estrogen, progesterone decrease. Imbalances in your thyroid and insulin play a role in weight gain. Cortisol (the stress hormone) can also contribute to why you might be gaining weight. The best solution to imbalanced hormones is exercise. Engaging in weight bearing exercises such as free weights or resistance exercises can help build muscle.

Weight loss or “weight control” is very difficult for most of us, but you can beat the bulge and feel your best with the correct knowledge and the right support.
